English can be the best way to communicate when you travel. A lot of people thought that traveling would be hard if they don’t speak the language. But having a bunch of these English phrases will help you get through your travel abroad.
- Hi/ Hello
Hi or Hello is a salutation or greeting in the English language. It is necessary to use this as it allows you to connect with people. It is the ultimate conversation starter because of its simpleness.
- Good Morning/Good Afternoon /Good evening
These ways of greeting people are used at different times of the day. Good Morning is used from 5:00 AM — 11:59 AM, Good Afternoon is used during 12:00 PM — 4:59 PM, while Good Evening is from 5:00 PM — 4:59 AM. Keep in mind that “Goodnight” is not a salutation. when applying formal communication, it is used to say goodbye, for example, “It was nice to meet you. Goodnight!” Whether you speak with a cashier, colleagues or taxi driver, these phrases are effective to start the ball rolling.
- Where is the restroom ?
For most people, the average number of times they visit the restroom is between 4 to 10 times a day. That means knowing where the restroom is, or how to ask of its location is important. Public toilets are typically found in many different places, it also has many variations, and countries call this room many different things: a bathroom, a washroom, the toilets.
- How much is this?
When you travel, you will want to know how much things cost. This is very useful when you’re out shopping or when you’re in a restaurant, or riding a cab and the price is not marked or something is not clear to you.
- I don’t understand, can you please repeat.
If you did not understand what someone told you, Don’t be afraid to ask to repeat what they said or what they meant. There is nothing wrong with this situation.
- I need Help
If something unexpected happened, and you don’t know what to do, you can always ask for help. But we don’t wish that you’ll use this phrase in your travel, just in case you need it. It’s better to be prepared, anyway!
